First Half

Venezuela started the match brightly and had the first chance of the game when Josef Martinez fired wide. Ecuador gradually grew into the game and began to create chances of their own. The best chance of the first half fell to Gonzalo Plata, but he was denied by a fine save from Wuilker Farinez.

Second Half

Ecuador came out with more purpose in the second half and took the lead in the 55th minute. Romario Ibarra found himself in space on the left wing and crossed for Ayrton Preciado to tap in from close range. Venezuela responded well and equalized in the 65th minute. Yeferson Soteldo played a clever pass through to Darwin Machis, who fired home from the edge of the area.

The match remained evenly poised for the remainder of the half, with both teams having chances to win it. In the end, the spoils were shared, and both teams will be left to rue missed opportunities.
